Sbusiso Manqa is the founder of SA Books Online, a digital publishing and distribution platform that empowers African authors and publishers to publish, manage, and sell their literary work to a global audience. A recent graduate of our Siyakhula Programme, Sbusiso’s growth journey has been closely supported by Black Umbrellas. The stability and resources provided through the programme played a key role in helping him scale operations and establish SA Books Online as a trusted name in the publishing space.
Earlier this year, Sbusiso attended the Y20 Pre-Summit, part of the official G20 youth engagement group. The experience aligned deeply with his mission to contribute to Africa’s development.
What left a lasting impression was the realisation that many challenges we face in Africa are shared globally. “Some solutions already exist; what we need is better dialogue and collaboration,” he reflected.
His advice to fellow entrepreneurs is simple but powerful:
“Expose yourself to progressive environments you wouldn’t typically be in and when you get there, participate and engage. Some solutions lie outside your environment.”
