Rajesh Sukha
Board Chairperson

 

Rajesh Sukha serves as theDeputy Group Company Secretary: Ninety One since 2020.  He was the Head of CoSec: Southern Africa at Investec Asset Management since January 2017. He has been serving as a Black Umbrellas director since January 2010 and was appointed Chairman of Black Umbrellas in February 2019.


Rajesh was admitted as an Attorney and registered with Law Society of Cape of Good Hope as a practising attorney in November 2000.


Rajesh’s educational background includes B.Proc. through the University of Western Cape in 1998, CIBM at Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) in 2014 as well as short courses relating to corporate governance.


Rajesh’s professional background includes being a company secretary at Old Mutual Life Assurance Company (SA) and the Sanlam Investments Cluster (asset management/investment division of Sanlam). Prior to that he provided legal advice, specialising in BBBEE, to clients of SEESA Ltd. He later got seconded to SERA (Pty) Ltd as a BBBEE verification manager once the role of advisor and verifier was separated in the BBEE codes.


Rajesh practised law at Weiner & Associates in Cape Town and later opened their Queenstown office (Eastern Cape). He later established his own law firm, Rajesh Sukha and Associates and also took up a shareholding in Amalgamated Debt Management Services (Pty) Ltd, and acted as General Manager.

Mmabatho Maboya
Director

Mmabatho Maboya is the Chief Executive Officer of Cyril Ramaphosa Foundation. Mmabatho joined the Foundation in 2015 as its Strategy and Partnerships Executive.


Mmabatho is an experienced strategy, communications and stakeholder relations professional with strong capabilities to link research, strategy and technical expertise to reputation management.


Prior to joining the Foundation, she worked for Shanduka Group, Eskom Holdings SOC and in local government in South Africa.


She serves on the boards of Adopt-a-School Foundation, Black Umbrellas, KST as well as a council member for the Independent Philanthropy Association of South Africa (IPASA).


Mmabatho is passionate about issues relating to access to quality of education, children’s rights, entrepreneurship, environmental sustainability and good governance.


She holds a BSc (Statistics and Geography) from the University of the Free State; BSc Honours (Geography) from the University of South Africa; and an MBA from the University of Pretoria’s Gordon Institute of Business Science.

Duma Mxenge
Director

Duma Mxenge is the Business Development Manager at Satrix, a leading provider of index investment strategies in South Africa. In this capacity his focus lies on business development and relationship management of new and existing clients across all market channels/segments. He is also a director at Black Umbrellas (NPC) which he joined since September 2013.


Duma has a wide and in-depth knowledge of the Asset Management industry and career which spans over a period of 15 years and has fulfilled numerous roles across different disciplines such as being an Equity Analyst, Investment Product Analyst (Product Development), Investment Specialist and an Account Executive.


Duma holds a B.Com Honours in Financial Analysis & Portfolio Management at the University of Cape Town.
